THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE APPLYING:
Working at a Summer Camp is one of the most fun and rewarding ways you can spend a summer, it is also one of the most physically and mentally demanding jobs on the planet.  We expect that you will work many hours a day, many days in a row, with a good attitude.  We will give you a day off for each 7 days that you work, and a two hour break each day, and we expect that despite the lack of privacy, free time, personal space, energy (sometimes), and long hot showers, you will consistently be positive and proactive.  We expect you to take care of yourself and learn to recognize when you are feeling down or less energetic and find healthy ways of dealing with those feelings so that you don’t take anything away from our campers’ safety or experience.

Use of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs- Our primary concern at Camp Tamarack is the safety and positive growth of all of our campers.  As a camp counselor you are a role model and are responsible for the safety of our campers, obviously the use of tobacco, alcohol or drugs while on duty or on camp property impair your ability to fulfill your responsibilities.  If you smoke, plan on quitting before coming to camp and if you want to drink you must be off duty and off camp property to responsibly do so. A violation of these rules is grounds for dismissal.

Physical Examination – Documentation of having had a general physical is required for all employees.  If you have had one 24 months prior to your date of hire we will accept a copy of the completed exam.  A medical form will be sent upon hiring and must be returned to camp before arrival.

Certificates/Credentials – Employees must bring proper identification (social security card and drivers’ license or passport).  Copy of any certifications must be obtained prior to arrival.  Background checks will be conducted on all employees prior to arrival.  Current CPR/First Aid certification is required and will be offered as part of our staff training.

Living Accommodations – All staff should plan on rooming with at least one other staff member.  No pets are permitted for seasonal staff unless special arrangements have been made.

Attention International Staff Prospects!!!  Please contact Camp Counselors USA for information on how to apply for summer employment.  They will help you with obtaining a work visa.
